At The Y Holder, we recognise childhood as a unique and precious stage of life. Our aim is to support each child’s development in a holistic and unhurried manner, allowing them to flourish at their own pace.

We view early childhood education as the essential foundation for fostering confident, lifelong learners.

Guided by a Reggio Emilia inspired philosophy, we create thoughtful and engaging learning environments that promote inquiry, creativity, and meaningful exploration.

Our open plan outdoor spaces are designed to connect children with the natural world, offering opportunities for mud and water play, tree climbing, and regular nature walks.

Through intentional role modelling, we nurture a deep respect for plants, animals and the land.

We are committed to providing a learning environment that is thoughtfully resourced with natural, reusable, recyclable and open-ended materials, encouraging curiosity, imagination, and sustainable practices.

It’s been absolutely lovely to see our daughter blossom at the YMCA. She’s grown so much in such a short time, and we can’t thank the Bottlebrush team enough for nurturing her interests and introducing her to the wonderful world of craft.

Our Holder Early Learning Centre offers an environment full of enrichment and growth opportunities. As part of the Y Canberra Region community, we pride ourselves on building strong relationships with each other, our community, the children and their families.

Every day is an opportunity to learn, explore, discover and connect. And our centre encourages self-directed learning, and embracing our connection to the land with our extensive outdoor area.

The centre has 10 rooms, and with our educator to child ratios in place to enable the best learning experience for the children, we can accommodate up to 126 children with room ratios as shown below.

At The Y Canberra Region safeguarding is embedded in our organisational culture. We are dedicated to providing safe, inclusive environments where children and young people are respected, protected and heard.

Our commitment is demonstrated through the implementation of well-defined Safeguarding Children and Young People policies and procedures, ongoing staff training to identify and mitigate risks and a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse or neglect.

We actively partner with families and children to ensure they feel empowered to raise concerns with confidence, and we fulfil all legal obligations to report and respond to any matters related to safety or welfare.
