Strategy 2030

The Y’s in Australia have set themselves a bold new vision: to create a better world, with and for young people.

Our mission is to empower children, young people and communities Australia-wide to build a just, sustainable, equitable and inclusive world where every person can thrive in body, mind and spirit.

We have committed to driving systemic change across four areas of impact:

  • Community Wellbeing
  • Meaningful Work
  • Sustainable Planet
  • A Just World

We recognise that driving systemic change is something that the Y is uniquely positioned to do.

Globally, the Y reaches over 12,000 communities, in Australia we are connected to over 650 communities, and here in the Canberra Region, we reach across borders to offer services and impact to communities and young people from all across the ACT and reaching out to Queanbeyan, Sutton and Bungendore.

We have an extensive service profile and a deep knowledge on how to support children and young people from their earliest age and through their life journey.

Believing in the power of inspired young people means that we must embrace a cycle of impact and inspiration, supporting our youngest citizens to grow into inspired young people and helping adults to support them.

The Four Pillars of Impact

A New Vision for the Y’s in Australia

The Y Canberra Region has aligned with Y Australia for Strategy 2030 – our blueprint for how we will work together collectively over the next 7 years and across the 650+ communities in Australia where the Y operates.

Co-designed by more than 200 Y People and driven by our National Youth Voice Steering Group and Member Strategy Squad, Strategy 2030 is our way of bringing together our local impact.

And for the first time in YMCA global history, in the face of the world’s most pressing challenges, the Y stands as one global movement across 120 member countries and over 12,000 communities – with one global mission and four global pillars.
