The Y has been supporting the Canberra region for 80 years.

Established in 1941, when Canberra was a young city with just over 10,000 people, the Y has literally grown side-by-side with the nation’s capital.

The very first YMCA was founded in London by George Williams in 1844 to support young men during a time of great poverty. The Y is now located in over 120 countries and has been supporting the Canberra Region for 80 years. In 2020 YMCA Canberra and YMCA Queanbeyan merged to become one local “Y” and better support the Canberra region, providing services as far as Bungendore in NSW.
