In 2025, The Y Canberra proudly celebrated 40+ years of RAID (Recreational Activities for Intellectual Disabilities) Basketball, a program that has fostered inclusion, confidence, and community since 1984. This milestone was marked not only by reflection on four decades of impact but also by an exciting new chapter: the launch of our second RAID program in partnership with Marist College. Officially opening on 8 August 2025, the southside program began with three participants and was warmly welcomed by the community, with strong representation from partner schools, the Snow Foundation, and Y Board Members. A joint student session ahead of the launch further demonstrated the program’s power to build connection and collaboration. Together, these achievements highlight both the legacy and future of RAID, affirming its role as a cornerstone of inclusive recreation in the ACT.

In 2025, we proudly hosted the inaugural Yarralumla Bay Extravaganza, marking the beginning of what promises to be a flagship community celebration. The event transformed the foreshore into a vibrant hub of activity, with local clubs, associations and organisations showcasing everything their clubs have to offer. Families, friends, and visitors gathered to enjoy a festive atmosphere that highlighted community passions and the natural beauty of Yarralumla Bay. The strong turnout and overwhelmingly positive feedback affirmed the event’s success, setting a solid foundation for it to become an annual tradition that fosters community pride and connection.
