North Ainslie

At North Ainslie OSHC we believe that children have the right to play and to leisure, as this helps facilitate social and emotional learning.

Children have the right to contribute to their environment and to be offered child-centered, self-directed and adult-led activities. We believe children should feel safe, secure and supported, and that the relationships we foster facilitate this. As a safeguarding accredited organisation, we believe that developing supportive relationships with the children plays a major role in keeping them safe in the Y, in their homes, and in the communities.

We believe in the importance of encouraging children to be healthy; physically, emotionally, socially and mentally. We offer thoughtfully planned activities and nutritious and delicious food each day. We encourage children to take responsibility over their choices to benefit their mental and physical health.

Our program ensures that all aspects of the children’s time within our service supports and encourages diversity, are gender inclusive, promote learning and life skills through play, and encourage creativity and imagination.

Safeguarding

at the heart of what we do

At The Y Canberra Region safeguarding is embedded in our organisational culture. We are dedicated to providing safe, inclusive environments where children and young people are respected, protected and heard.

Our commitment is demonstrated through the implementation of well-defined Safeguarding Children and Young People policies and procedures, ongoing staff training to identify and mitigate risks and a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse or neglect.

We actively partner with families and children to ensure they feel empowered to raise concerns with confidence, and we fulfil all legal obligations to report and respond to any matters related to safety or welfare.
